David Hutniak, CEO of Rental industry group LandlordBC, said:
He knows B.C.’s Residential Tenancy Act is a good,
Well-balanced piece of legislation
If the branch actually gets the manpower to enforce the act,
He believes it will solve a lot of problems
Because
“Tenants hate it and Landlords hate it.”
“I think this speaks to the government ignoring the pleas–and not just ignoring,
But going against the pleas–of a lot of local citizens here,”
“This is obviously pretty bad .”
A new report by a legal advocacy organization identifies significant and persistent unfairness at the Residential Tenancy Branch
Home Owners know
It’s a million times easier and cheaper to leave their homes empty
Than Deal with the Rental Board so
Than Deal with the Rental Board so
Thousands of people are leaving their places empty
The Government’s plan
“It’s geared towards People bringing money in from offshore.”
Our government encourages investors who live in a foreign country
To bring their money in from offshore.
Then take their money offshore
Wealthy Foreigners, many of whom wanted nothing more than
“passports of convenience”
And will never pay a cent of Canadian taxes
They are profiting in properties as commodities not Homes
Strewn throughout the city are abandoned, million-dollar homes
The Truth is
“We do not need foreign capital using
Canadian real estate as a piggy bank.
Beyond the reach of Non-Millionaires
This is Mentality ill

The Royal Bank of Canada
Quietly reported this month that housing costs in
Metro Vancouver have reached
“the worst affordability levels ever recorded anywhere in Canada.”
Vancouver is now one of the world’s most hopelessly
Pathetic urban landscapes of housing affordability.

Vancouver is a real estate disaster
We have the least affordable housing markets in the world
Vancouver has experienced the greatest housing affordability deterioration
among major markets in the Demographia Annual International Housing
among major markets in the Demographia Annual International Housing
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. just
Increased Its Risk-Rating for Vancouver to its Highest Level
Number of ‘poor’ million-dollar homeowners unusually high in Vancouver
We are pushing Housing and Rents beyond the reach of Non-millionaires
It’s our Government and domestic bank lending that’s actually creating this situation
To unravel the politics of Metro Vancouver’s red-hot, real estate market,
Just follow the money and the votes.
We must start with
Premier Christy Clark’s trade delegation to China included
Vancouver real-estate firms with an eye on sales abroad
They took with them the “immigrant investor program”
It is important to note that the “immigrant investor program”
Which effectively sold Canadian residency,
and created devastation in the BC housing market still continues today
Because Quebec, alone among provinces, admits thousands each year,
Collects the millions in “fees” for doing so,
And then allows them to move immediately to
The National Bank of Canada, which said “almost $13 billion was spent by Chinese investors in Vancouver” in one recent year alone.
This soured the dream of home ownership and Rents for non-millionaires.
This was a Gold mine for our Government
When a B.C. home is sold, the government takes a percentage cut.
The higher the price, the more the government collects.
With prices soaring, the government is making a transfer-tax killing: an astonishing $1.49 billion in the last fiscal year, a 40-per-cent increase in one year.
The transfer-tax take was $562 million more than the government budgeted at the start of the year, allowing the Liberals to balance the books and giving
Clark a key re-election talking point.
Clark a key re-election talking point.
How big is this pot of money?
It’s more than the government got from lotteries and casinos.
More than the carbon tax.
More than tobacco.
More than liquor.
More than royalties from forestry, mining and natural gas combined.
As the government rakes in money from real estate sales
Vancouver now has the Highest Housing Cost and the Lowest Wages
Working Families are all trapped in a vicious cycle of housing problems?
To make matter worse, Housing and Rents are increasing with every new Day
20-30 people show up, and the place goes to the Highest Bidder
20-30 people show up, and the place goes to the Highest Bidder
We are pushing Housing and Rents beyond the reach of Non-millionaire
If you want Affordable Rents
The provincial government needs to re-commit to ensuring
The tenancy system works fairly.”
Making it Fair and Honest for both Landlords and Tenants
There should be a fair and reliable system to decide those issues.”
And we will not have a Housing Crises
